Practising good hand hygiene is the best way to avoid the spread of harmful germs and prevent illnesses. The majority of common infections are spread when you use your hands to touch your face, other people and surfaces such as tabletops, doorknobs and handrails. As the world grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important to recognize that washing your hands frequently and thoroughly is crucial to your own health and that of others in your community.
Our Portable Solutions
Often, at outdoor events and construction sites where portable toilets are needed, there’s no running water. In these situations, renting handwash stations is a sanitary way to ensure proper hand hygiene practices. Designed to be used by up to two or four people at a time, these units come equipped with soap, paper towels and the necessary dispensers. Fresh water flows from the holding tank out of a faucet when you step on the foot pump. This allows you to avoid wasting water and touching contaminated surfaces. Alternatively, you can rent a sink trailer. Equipped with eight stainless steel sinks and self-closing faucets, these units are ideal for events with children or onsite food preparation. The trailer has a capacity of 230 gallons and uses electricity to provide hot and cold water. Soap and paper towel dispensers are also included.
Hand Hygiene In 10 Steps
A recent report in the International Journal of Epidemiology found that only about half of Canadians and people in other high-income countries wash their hands after using the toilet. However, washing your hands is easy and involves only a minimal amount of time. Here are the 10 steps you need to follow to disinfect your hands.
Wet your hands with warm water
Apply enough soap to completely cover your hands
Rub your palms together
Rub your right palm over the back of your left hand with interlaced fingers, and vice versa
Place your palms together and rub your interlaced fingers back and forth
Rub the backs of your fingers against the opposite palm with your fingers interlocked
Clasp your right thumb with your left hand and rub rotationally, and vice versa
Rub the tips of your right fingers rotationally in your left palm, and vice versa
Rinse your hands with warm water
Dry your hands
You should spend at least 20 seconds scrubbing your hands. Remember to use a cloth or paper towel to turn off the faucet to avoid contaminating your hands.
