Whether it was at a party, a festival, or on a construction site, you’ve probably used a porta potty at least once in your life. Which means, at some point, you’ve probably wondered about where all the porta potty waste ends up? As a portable sanitation rental service, this is one of our most frequently asked questions. Here’s how porta potties work.
How Much Waste Can a Portable Toilet Rental Hold?
Our regular porta potties can hold 60 gallons, or 227 litres, of waste. If you’re planning on renting porta potties for an event, the number of toilets you should order will depend on the number of attendees and the duration of the event, as illustrated in our handy Portable Toilet Usage Chart for Events. On construction sites, the number of porta potties required depends on the number of employees on the site. These numbers are listed on our Portable Toilet Usage Chart for Construction Sites. If you think you require a portable toilet with a greater waste capacity than our Regular Portable Unit, don’t hesitate to ask about the other models we have available.
How often are they cleaned?
We send technicians to clean our portable toilets once a week. These weekly cleanings are included in the cost of the rental and continue throughout the entire period. Your location will be listed on the service route for your area, so you’ll be given a good idea of when to expect your technician. If you feel your porta potty needs to be replenished more frequently, you can easily schedule extra cleanings.
Where is the porta-potty waste sent?
We are fully certified by the Ministry of Environment, which means we’ve been trained to be vigilant when handling waste from portable toilets. When one of our technicians comes to clean your porta-potties, they’ll drain the waste into their vacuum truck. After, it gets transferred to a licenced waste treatment facility where it’s safely disposed of.
